David Hazelwood

David Hazelwood was born in 1932 and lived in Ipswich.

Hazelwood was self-taught and took part in many group exhibitions including the Royal Academy Summer Show from 1977, the Bath Festival from 1983 and International Art Fairs in Basel, Chicago, Cologne and Frankfurt. He held one man shows at Bedford College in 1970 and in 1993 exhibited his work in Germany at the Galerie Peerlings in Krefeld and at the Galerie Krakeslatt in Bromolla in Sweden.

David Hazelwood’s work is represented in Victoria & Albert Museum, the Department of the Environment, Camden Arts Centre, Atkinson Art Gallery, Southport, Beecroft Art Gallery, Southend, Birmingham City Art Gallery, Bolton Museum and Art Gallery, the B.B.C., Chelmsford and Essex Museum, Clare Hall, Cambridge, Graves Art Gallery, Sheffield, Hertfordshire County Council, Manchester Education Committee, Norfolk Education Committee, Oldham Library and Museum, Portsmouth City Museum, Reinickendorf Artotec, Berlin, St.Thomas’ Hospital, London and Worcester Art Gallery

Following his death in 1994 a tribute show was held the following year at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich. Chappel Galleries in Essex held a solo exhibition of his collages in 2005.
