Ernest Pascoe was born in 1922. He studied at Carlisle School of Art from 1937 to 1941 followed by service in the Royal Air Force. At the end of the war he became a student at the Slade from 1945 to 1948 where he was awarded the Robert Ross Scholarship. He subsequently became head of Fine Art at Bristol Polytechnic and eventually rose to chairman of the Royal West of England Academy. He exhibited widely throughout his life including the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of British Artists. the London Group the AIA and the Arts Council. Ernest Pascoe died in 1996.
