Grahame Wheatley, born 1943
Grahame Wheatley was born in Leicester and studied at the city’s Polytechnic, graduating with a first class degree in Fine Art. Although the influence of his hero, Stanley Spencer, is evident in his work, Wheatley’s style gives a nod to other painters while remaining truly unique to himself.
He was a scenic artist for the BBC at its Pebble Mill Studios in Birmingham from 1980-3 and in 1984 was elected a member of the Leicester Society of Artists. His work is held in a number of public and private collections and he has received commissions from The Dorchester Hotel, London and The Oriental Hotel, Singapore amongst others.
He lives in Long Eaton, Derbyshire.
