Leigh Davis was born in Shrewsbury in 1976.
He grew up in Broseley and Much Wenlock in Shropshire. From 1995 until 1997 he studied Silversmithing and Jewellery in Birmingham and went on to complete his Honours Degree in Wolverhampton in 1999, studying ceramics, woods, metals and plastics. After graduating he continued producing sculptures but later focused on painting.
Leigh has a particular fascination with the deconstruction and isolation of forms and focal points within the landscape. The results are a creation of abstract paintings that capture the atmosphere of the scenes. Many of his paintings are of the countryside around his home in rural Shropshire, the rolling hills surrounding Much Wenlock, the dramatic coastline of the Gower Peninsular and the rich and varied coastline of Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly which feature heavily in his work.
