Ray Barry (1931- )

Barry’s education at Clapham College was followed by a course in Humanities at Goldsmiths College. He then travelled widely as an engineer for Cable & Wireless, maintaining his interest in art and exhibiting in Nairobi, Sudan and Aden.

In 1968 he returned to the UK and settled in Cornwall. From 1970, and for more than a decade, he was the proprietor of the ICON and Collector Galleries in Penzance, and completed a BA (Hons) at the Open University. In 1992 he achieved a Fine Art Diploma at Penzance, and in 1997 a Fine Art BA (Hons) at the Falmouth School of Art. Since then he has participated in many group and solo exhibitions locally, and further afield in Plymouth and Bristol, and with the Northern Art Show (group) at Harrogate. Formerly based in St Ives, Barry continues to exhibit widely throughout the West Country. He is an Associate Member of the Penwith Society of Artists and became a director of the St. Ives Society of Artists (STISA) in 2010.
